The Minnesota Wrestling Coaches Association has named the BHS girls team its 2022 state champion, a distinction reserved for the team that scores the most points in the individual state tournament.
With one final dose of history, the Bemidji High School girls wrestling team capped its inaugural season at Saturday’s girls individual state tournament at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.
Kylie Donat, Jadyn Kelly and Elizabeth Oster are all destined for the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul after their performances at the section tournament. Donat and Kelly were both section champions, while Oster earned her state spot as a runner-up.
The Class 3A individual state tournament is scheduled to run Friday and Saturday, March 4-5, at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul. The action begins at 9 a.m. Friday.
Entering Friday’s Section 8-3A individual tournament, Schwinghammer held a record of 37-0. He recently ran off three straight pins in the section team tournament, all of which were completed within one minute.
