Russians working for a close ally of President Vladimir Putin engaged in an elaborate campaign of “information warfare” to interfere with the midterm elections, federal prosecutors said on Oct. 19, in announcing they had charged one of them in the plot. U.S. astronaut Nick Hague and Russian cosmonaut Alexey Ovchinin had made it about halfway to space in Soyuz MS-10 Thursday before suddenly going the other direction. They fell about 31 miles back to the surface, according to NASA. They were immediately located by rescue teams, retrieved from the capsule with no apparent injuries.
