MANKATO -- The Bemidji State women’s track and field team broke 14 personal records en route to 18 top-10 finishes at the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Indoor Championships on Saturday in Mankato.
Venice Stewart broke her own program record in the 200-meter dash with a third-place time of 24.79, which is an NCAA provisional qualifying time. Stewart also took sixth in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.71.
Christa Benson came in second in the pentathlon with a personal-record score of 3,516, which fell one point shy of tying BSU’s program best. She was first in the 800-meter run (2:24.18), second in the long jump (17-09.00), third in the 60-meter hurdles (9.08) and fifth in shot put (32-01.00).
Zoe Christensen earned the Beavers three points with a sixth-place finish in the shot put, recording a personal-best throw of 45-00.25.
University of Mary claimed the team title, which is the Marauders’ second straight championship.
