MINNEAPOLIS -- The Bemidji State women’s hockey team fell 3-2 in an overtime heartbreaker at Minnesota at Ridder Arena on Friday night, marking the second straight time this season that the Gophers have prevailed in overtime over the Beavers.
Paige Beebe scored the game-tying goal for the Beavers (5-10-2, 3-7-1-1 Western Collegiate Hockey Association) with 52 seconds left in the second period as the game remained tied at 2-2 at the end of regulation.
With only 26.7 ticks left in the overtime period, Grace Zumwinkle buried the game-winning goal for the No. 6 Gophers (14-4-1, 9-3-1-0 WCHA).
Briana Jorde opened the scoring with her goal at 16:25 of the first period as BSU took a 1-0 lead into the first intermission. The goal was the first in the sophomore defender’s career.
Caitlin Reilly evened the score with her power-play goal at 13:42 of the second period. Emily Brown scored less than two minutes later to suddenly deliver Minnesota its first lead of the night.

Beebe scored her equalizer late in the frame, but the Beavers still sustained their second overtime loss of the season to the Gophers. Minnesota beat the Beaver 4-3 in overtime in their previous meeting Oct. 14.
Lauren Bench started in net and recorded 34 saves while Sidney Peters made 24 for the Gophers. Minnesota outshot the Beavers 37-26.
Bemidji State will go for the series split today at 4:07 p.m. at Ridder Arena.
