BEMIDJI - The Bemidji State women’s hockey team continues to set program records.
On Monday, the Beavers earned their highest-ever ranking in the USCHO.com national top 10 poll.
The Beavers, who swept Ohio State this past weekend and improved to 10-2-2 overall and 7-2-1 in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association, have achieved a program-best No. 5 ranking in the poll.
Last week, BSU was previously No. 6 in the national rankings - another program high.
Wisconsin remained the No. 1 team in the nation after receiving eight first place votes, followed by Boston College in second with seven votes.
Minnesota was No. 3 and Clarkson was No. 4 to round out the top five aside from BSU.
The Beavers have a chance to climb the rankings even higher when they take on the Gophers in Minneapolis this weekend.
The Beavers are 3-27-3 alltime against the Gophers in Minneapolis, including taking five points there last season - a 1-0 win and a 2-2 tie that ended in a shootout victory. BSU also beat Minnesota in the WCHA Final Faceoff last season in Grand Forks.
Anderson, USA wins Four Nations
Stephanie Anderson will return from Sweden with another gold medal.
The Bemidji State senior forward, who was a member of Team USA’s gold-medal winning Women’s World Championships team earlier this year in Malm', Sweden, helped the Americans win the Four Nations Cup this past week.
Team USA went undefeated in the three-game round-robin, then defeated Canada 3-2 in overtime in the title game on Sunday in Sundsvall, Sweden.
Anderson, from North St. Paul, finished the tournament with an assist and was plus-two overall in the four games.
She is expected to be back in the lineup this weekend against Minnesota, her former team.
