TRACK AND FIELD: BSU track opens indoor season

BROOKINGS, S.D. -- Junior Christa Benson recorded a personal best in the pentathlon as the Bemidji State track and field team opened the indoor season Friday at the South Dakota State Holiday Open and Multi in Brookings, S.D.

Benson set her personal-best score of 2,926 in the women’s pentathlon while three Beaver freshmen also took part in the events.

Following Benson’s 14th place finish in the pentathlon was freshman Cheri’A Adams with a score of 2,770 while Aneesa Tucker finished 18th (2,678) and Libby Christenson took 20th (2,400).

Adams also led the Beavers in the 60-meter hurdles finals with a time of 9.74, in shot put with her best throw of 30 feet, 4.75 inches, and in the long jump with an attempt of 16 feet, 7.25 inches.

The Beavers will take their full team to Duluth, Saturday, Dec. 9, for the The Opener, their next meet hosted by Minnesota Duluth.
