THIEF RIVER FALLS -- The Bemidji High School girls tennis team’s unbeaten start to the season came to an end Thursday night with a 4-3 loss at Thief River Falls. The Lumberjacks move to 11-1 on the year with the defeat.
“It was a great match for us to play at this point in the season,” BHS head coach Kyle Fodness said. “One of our team goals this year was to always raise our best and improve in every practice and every meet, and this is a great opportunity for us to reset, refocus and come out even stronger in the last few weeks of the regular season.”
Tied at 3-3 with only the No. 1 doubles match remaining, Bela Nelson and Khloe Lund clinched the win for the Prowlers with a 6-4, 6-2 victory.
Savannah Haugen and Emily Dondelinger were victorious in first and fourth singles for Bemidji. Chloe Hasbargen and Paige Anderson claimed a win in No. 2 doubles for the Jacks.
Bemidji will head to Grand Rapids for its next match at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 24.
