WILLMAR - The Bemidji High School girls swimming and diving team started their season in the pool with a solid finish Friday night, taking third place in the Willmar Invitational.
The Lumberjacks scored 316 points to get their finish, behind first-place Melrose Area (465) and second place St. Cloud Tech (358).
Senior Libby McRae was the lone event winner for BHS, as she took first in the 100 individual medley with a time of 2 minutes, 23.37 seconds, and also earned first in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:04.25.
The Lumberjacks’ 400 freestyle relay team, consisting of McRae, Paige Andersen, Claudia Vincent and Abby Yartz was second with a time of 3:58.29. The 200 freestyle relay, with the same girls, finished third in 1:47.83.
Anderson also finished third in the 50 free, with a time of 26.49.
The Lumberjacks return to the pool Tuesday when they host Brainerd in a dual meet at 6 p.m. at Bemidji High School.
