BEMIDJI - The Bemidji State softball program announced four student-athletes to its 2016 signing class.
BSU head coach Rick Supinski announced in a press release that Payton Williams, Olivia Tucker, Alexis Derrick and and Rachel Burkland all signed National Letters of Intent or offers of admission to join the BSU softball program in 2017.
Williams, a middle infielder and outfielder, is a two-time all-section and all-conference winner from Becker.
Tucker, a pitcher from Grantsburg, Wis., was a 2015 Wisconsin all-state selection and helped her team make the state tournament in 2013 and 2014.
Derrick, who plays catcher and third base, is from New Richmond, Wis., was a team captain for two years and led her team in batting average in 2014 and 15.
Finally, Burkland is a utility player and pitcher from Glendale, Ariz., where she was a four-year letterwinner at Deer Valley High School.
BSU finished the 2015 season with an 18-30 record. It was the most wins for the Beavers since 1998 (25) and BSU will return 11 players from last season’s team.
