BEMIDJI -- Head coach Jim Stone and the Bemidji State women’s soccer team announced the commitments of six players slated to join the program ahead of the 2020 season.
Anna Breffle (forward, Andover), Marie Brookins (midfielder, Cottage Grove), Asia Burska (forward, Owatonna), Lauren Hodney (midfielder, Moorhead), Amanda Lavigne (goalkeeper, Phoenix, Ariz.) and Calyn Schanzenback (midfielder, Prior Lake) each inked their National Letters of Intent to play for the Beavers beginning next season.
Breffle was a letter winner and captain for Andover High School. She helped lead the Huskies to a Section 7AA title in 2017 and a section runner-up finish in 2018.
Brookins is a three-year letter winner in soccer from Park High School in Cottage Grove and a four-year letter winner in lacrosse. She was named All-Suburban East following her junior soccer and lacrosse seasons.
Burska is a six-time letter winner in soccer and hockey for Owatonna High School. She earned the Best Newcomer Award in soccer and was selected as a team captain.
Hodny is a five-time letter winner for Moorhead High School, where she has picked up three team offensive MVP awards and a team MVP award. She was twice selected captain and helped lead the Spuds to the Section 8AA final as a junior.
Lavigne is a two-time letter winner as the starting goalkeeper for Desert Vista High School in Phoenix, Ariz.
Schanzenbach is a three-time letter-winner for Prior Lake High School where she was a three-starter and the team’s leading goal scorer.
