MANKATO -- An 89th-minute goal did in the Bemidji State women’s soccer team in a 1-0 loss at No. 23 Minnesota State on Sunday.

Jenny Vetter scored the game’s lone goal with less than two minutes to play to clinch a late victory for the Mavericks (11-2-0, 8-2-0 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference).

MSU outshot the Beavers (8-4-1, 7-2-1 NSIC) by a 19-10 margin with each side posting eight shots on goal.

Goalkeeper Emma Riedi made seven saves on eight shots in the loss for BSU as she fell to 5-2-1 on the year. Alexa Rabune notched eight saves in the clean sheet for Minnesota State.

Bemidji State will return home for a pair of games this weekend. The Beavers will host Wayne State at 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25, and Augustana at 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27, in the team’s annual Cheryl Smith Cancer Awareness game.
