FERGUS FALLS -- The Bemidji High School soccer team remains undefeated this season after shutting out Hillcrest Lutheran Academy, 4-0, on the road Saturday afternoon in Fergus Falls.

Jacks junior Alexis Paquette scored the first two goals of the game in the 12th and 24th minutes, with Aliya Berard getting an assist on the first and the second going unassisted.

Susan Ritter buried the third goal in the 68th minute, assisted by Lindsey Hildenbrand, before Hildenbrand tallied a goal of her own in the 73rd with an assist going to Emma Dean.

Junior goalie Abigail Kieson made a diving save in the final minute to finalize the shutout in goal for the Jacks, her first of the year and the team’s fourth.

BHS head coach Logan Larsen said the Jacks success on the defensive end of the pitch is credited to their goalies, Kieson and regular starter Allison Beard, as well as a full team effort in front of them.

“I’d say our entire team plays defense,” Larsen said. “We have a very deep roster of defenders. They communicate, they position well, they have depth when the need to. They adapt to the style of the opponents. Just a lot of very experienced defenders.”

The Jacks improved to 6-0 on the year with the victory. They’re back on the pitch at 5 p.m. Monday, Sept. 10, on the road against Crookston.
