BOYS SOCCER: Bemidji continues offensive surge against Hillcrest
BEMIDJI -- The Bemidji High School boys soccer team remains undefeated through four games despite giving up a goal for the first time Thursday in an 8-1 win over Hillcrest Lutheran Academy at Bemidji Middle School.
Aidan Helwig opened the action for the Lumberjacks (4-0) with the first two goals of the game, and assists credited to James Siems and Chase Fillipi.
Iver Honningdal then scored Hillcrest's lone goal to cut the Bemidji lead in half, but before the buzzer sounded at the end of the first half, the Jacks had extended the lead to 6-1.
Aspen Galdamez fed Silas Hess for a backdoor tap-in before Ben Hess assisted three straight goals – one to Helwig to wrap up his hat trick, one to Ethan Mock and one to Silas Hess for his second of the day – for the five-goal lead at the intermission.
In the second half, Ben Hess scored a goal of his own from Brekt Thorsgard, and Nik Kivi finished the scoring at 8-1 with an assist going to Michael Dickinson.
The Jacks are back on the pitch for a 7 p.m. game Tuesday, Sept. 4, on the road against Grand Rapids.
