WOMEN'S SOCCER: Five Beavers earn All-Central Region nod

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Five members of the Bemidji State women’s soccer team were selected for the United Soccer Coaches’ organization All-Central Region teams on Thursday.

Senior defender Miranda Famestad and junior forward Rachael Norton were named to the All-Central Region First Team. Additionally, senior goalkeeper Catherine Arneson and junior midfielder/forward Dani Nelson earned spots on the all-region second team and freshman forward Allyson Smith was selected for the third team.

BSU’s five representatives on the All-Central Region team marks a program record, and they join 11 other players from the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. Minnesota State’s Abby Nordeen and Alesha Duccini join Famestad and Norton as first-team selections.

The Beavers finished the 2017 season with a 15-1-4 overall record, which included program firsts with a bid to the NCAA Tournament and a national ranking in the United Soccer Coaches poll, topping out at No. 14.
