SOCCER: Beavers fall to Minot State, 3-1, in NSIC tournament

MINOT, N.D. -- The Bemidji State soccer team couldn't overcome two first-half Minot State goals on Wednesday night, and the Beavers lost to Minot State 3-1 in their Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference quarterfinal game.

MINOT, N.D. - The Bemidji State soccer team couldn’t overcome two first-half Minot State goals on Wednesday night, and the Beavers lost to Minot State 3-1 in their Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference quarterfinal game.
The loss ends BSU’s 2015 season; the Beavers finished with an 11-7-1 overall record.
After 30 minutes of scoreless action, Minot State (15-3-1) scored two goals in a seven minute span to take a 2-0 lead into halftime - one by Ninfa Ramirez in the 31st minute and another by Taryn Love in the 38th.
The Beavers got one back in the second half. Miranda Famestad scored in the 66th minute on a free kick, cutting Minot’s lead to 2-1.
BSU had some chances late in the game but Emilie Robelo secured Minot’s win with a goal in the 76th minute.
Minot State outshot BSU 17-6, including 7-4 shots on goal.
BSU goalkeeper Anna Fobbe made four saves, giving her a final record of 8-7-1.
Minot will take on Augustana in Friday’s NSIC quarterfinals. The winner takes on either Minnesota State Mankato or Winona State on Sunday for an automatic berth in the NCAA Central Region tournament.
