SOCCER: Arneson named Academic All-American

BEMIDJI -- Senior goalkeeper Catherine Arneson of the Bemidji State soccer team has been named to College Sports Information Directors of America College Division Academic All-America First Team for her efforts on the field and in the classroom.

BEMIDJI -- Senior goalkeeper Catherine Arneson of the Bemidji State soccer team has been named to College Sports Information Directors of America College Division Academic All-America First Team for her efforts on the field and in the classroom.

The Fort Collins, Colo. native becomes the third member of the BSU soccer program to earn Academic All-America nod and the 24th BSU athlete, which includes eight first-teamers, to be recognized with the honor dating back to 1977.

Arneson, who was named 2017 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Goalkeeper of the Year, is a two-time All-NSIC selection, earning First Team accolades in 2017 following a 2016 second-team selection and garnered United Soccer Coaches All-Central Region Second Team honors last week. She posted an 8-1-3 record in 14 appearances, 12 starts and 1,195 minutes in 2017.

Arneson, a three-time Academic All-NSIC selection, carries a 3.70 cumulative GPA in elementary education. She is a regular on BSU’s Dean's List and Athletic Director's 3.0 Club.
