After an incredible performance in primetime to lead the Minnesota Vikings to a 33-26 win over the New England Patriots, quarterback Kirk Cousins joined receivers Justin Jefferson and Adam Thielen at midfield. All three players were set to take a bite out of a turkey leg, an annual tradition the NFL has established for the teams that win on Thanksgiving.

Just as he was about to take a bite, Cousins was asked how he’s going to top the viral videos from earlier this season that showed him rocking diamond chains while shirtless on the team charter. Without missing a beat, Kirko Chainz pointed to Jefferson to give a sneak peak into the future.
“He’s got grills,” Cousins said. “That’s probably the next step. I need to go get some custom grills. I’ve got to call my dentist. I don’t know if my dentist back in Holland, Michigan, gets a lot of requests for grills, so I need to call him.”
What started as a lighthearted joke on national television has since taken on a life of its own. Much like the viral videos from earlier this season.
“I got an email from my home dentist on Friday morning,” Cousins said. “My agent probably got a half a dozen emails from dentists — even from Canada — reaching out and saying that they were willing to make some grills if need be. There’s no lack of help and resources, so we’ll see what we can pull off before season is over.”

If he decides to go through with the bit, and it sounds like he will, Cousins is going to look out for his own.
“I’m going to ride with my hometown dentist,” he said. “I emailed him back and said, ‘Great. I’d love to see them. You let me know.’ ”
What’s the next step? Maybe finding a jeweler?
“This is not my world,” Cousins said with a laugh. “I don’t even know what it takes to make them. I don’t know if fake ones are going to pass for real ones, or if I’m going to be spotted a mile away if they’re not the real deal, or if I need to get the real deal. Not a world I’ve lived in for a very long time. I’m learning.”
There’s no better teacher than Jefferson. He rocks his grills pretty much every week. In fact, Jefferson couldn’t take a bite out of the turkey leg on Thanksgiving because he had them in.
“I think the humor of it all is it isn’t a conversation I expected to be having,” Cousins said. “Hopefully we keep winning and there’s a lot more jewelry up ahead.”
All that would be missing from the jewelry collection after the custom grills is a Super Bowl ring.
