WRESTLING: Bemidji sweeps tri meet in Alexandria as 8 Lumberjacks go 2-0

Gabe Morin (113 pounds), Nick Strand (120), Alec Newby (138), Dane Jorgensen (160), Seth Newby (170), Spencer Ness (195), Parker Orvik (220) and Tom Paquette (285) all had productive days on the mat.

ALEXANDRIA – The Bemidji High School boys wrestling team continues to establish itself as a contender early in the season.

The Lumberjacks traveled to Alexandria for a triangular on Thursday and picked up two wins, toppling Alex 54-18 and Brainerd 43-24.

Several BHS wrestlers picked up wins in both matchups. Gabe Morin defeated both of his opponents at 113 pounds, as did Nick Strand (120), Alec Newby (138), Dane Jorgensen (160), Seth Newby (170), Spencer Ness (195), Parker Orvik (220) and Tom Paquette (285).

The Jacks now undergo a quick turnaround before returning to face top-15 nationally ranked Bettendorf (Iowa) High School at 4 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 6, to start their run at The Clash in La Crosse, Wis.
