BEMIDJI -- River Lakes kept the scoreboard operator busy on Saturday afternoon, as the Stars stormed into the Bemidji Community Arena and dispatched of the Bemidji High School girls hockey team 6-0.
River Lakes (10-9) put up three goals in the first period, including the opening strike 6:20 into the first period. Sophia Hess bagged the ultimate game-winner, while Kianna Roeske and Bianna Wileman added back-to-back scores within 50 seconds late in the frame.
River Lakes added two power-play goals in the second period, as Ayla McLellan and Hess both scored late. Roeske tacked on an extra goal in the last minute of regulation for the 6-0 final.
Payton Weidemann finished with 21 saves over the first two periods for BHS (3-13-2). Ava Myhre played between the pipes for the Lumberjacks in the third and stopped 12 of 13 shots.
Kaydence Roeske was a perfect 21-for-21 in net for the Stars.

Bemidji will next hit the road for a 7 p.m. game at Grand Rapids/Greenway on Thursday, Jan. 20, in Grand Rapids.
