BEMIDJI – The Bemidji High School girls hockey team couldn’t get any pucks past Crookston on Tuesday at the Bemidji Community Arena. The Pirates locked down the goal and emerged with a 2-0 win.
Crookston (11-5-1) first did its damage through Rylee Solheim, who scored at 11:16 in the second period off assists from Aleah Bienek and Cassie Solheim. Then, at 16:19 in the third period, Cassie Solheim scored an unassisted empty-netter to seal the win for the Pirates.
Payton Weidemann started in net for the Lumberjacks (3-14-2) and stopped 40 shots, keeping BHS in the game until the final minute. Kailee Magsam stopped all 16 of the Jacks’ shots to earn the shutout for Crookston.
Bemidji returns to the rink against East Grand Forks at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 27, back at the BCA.
