ALEXANDRIA -- Ten days removed from a rivalry win over Alexandria , the Bemidji High School girls basketball team couldn’t replicate the same success on Friday. The Cardinals got payback by way of a 56-36 win in Alexandria.
The Cardinals (4-6) took off after halftime, outscoring BHS 29-15 with an offense that came alive. Seven 3-pointers rained down from MaCee Linow, as she netted a game-high 21 points all from beyond the arc.
Alexandria was up 27-21 at halftime, but the Lumberjacks (4-7) kept it close with a balanced effort spearheaded by six points apiece from Gracee Bieber and Jackie Johnson.
But the biggest damage was done in the second frame. The Cardinals went on an extended 29-11 spurt that carried them to the finish.
Bieber finished with a team-high 10 points for Bemidji but was the lone Lumberjack in double figures. Johnson followed with nine and Jody Pemberton six.
