BOYS GOLF: Simon Fredrickson, Bemidji take 2nd at Cardinal/Wildcat Invite

The Bemidji High School boys golf team swung its way into success at the Cardinal/Wildcat Invite on Friday and Saturday, finishing second of 14 teams at the two-day tournament with a score of 649.

The Bemidji High School boys golf team swung its way into success at the Cardinal/Wildcat Invite on Friday and Saturday, finishing second of 14 teams at the two-day tournament with a score of 649. Day one was held at Little Crow Country Club in Spicer, and day two took place at Eagle Creek Golf Club in Willmar.

BHS sophomore Simon Fredrickson also finished second individually with a 10-over-par 154, carding a 77 at each course.

Ryan Daman finished tied for ninth with an overall score of 163, shooting 84 at Little Crow and 79 at Eagle Creek. Nick Yavarow matched him with a 163 of his own, carding 81 at Little Crow and 82 at Eagle Creek.

Eli Tuomala also scored for the Lumberjacks, finishing 22nd with a 169 (85-84). Carter Fish (88-90=178) and John Loch (96-106=202) also competed for Bemidji but didn’t factor into the team score.

Sartell-St. Stephen won the team title with a score of 627, with Bemidji and Willmar (661) completing the top three. Carson Andel of the Sabres was the top individual finisher with a score of 150.

BHS is scheduled to return to the links for the Bemidji Invitational starting at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, May 9, at the Bemidji Town and Country Club.
