SAUK CENTRE -- With four top-15 scores and two in the top six, the Bemidji High School boys golf team stormed the Sauk Centre Invitational on Wednesday and walked out with first place.
The Lumberjacks topped the 12-team field at Greystone Golf Club, finishing with a team score of 324 and beating out second-place Detroit Lakes by eight strokes.
Simon Fredrickson tied for fourth on the individual leaderboard with his 79, while Nick Yavarow placed sixth with an 80. Carter Fish notched another top-10 finish by placing 10th with a score of 82, and Ryan Daman closed the team’s score with his 83 that tied for 15th.
Eli Tuomala (tie for 19th, 85) and John Loch (tie for 24th, 90) also competed for BHS but didn’t factor into the team score.
Gannon Walsh of Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa finished with a tournament-best 74 to earn medalist honors by two strokes. His Jaguars rounded out the top-three team scores with a 335.

Bemidji is scheduled to next be in action on Friday and Saturday, April 29-30, for a road invite hosted by Willmar.
