BOYS GOLF: Buffalo beats Bemidji despite Nick Yavarow’s 2-over showing

Though the Jacks had multiple players finish in the top five, Buffalo ultimately emerged victorious – carding a collective score of 291 to top Bemidji’s 312.

BUFFALO – The Bemidji High School boys golf team traded swings with Buffalo in a dual meet held at Wild Marsh Golf Club in Buffalo on Thursday. Though the Jacks had multiple players finish in the top five, Buffalo ultimately emerged victorious – carding a collective score of 291 to top Bemidji’s 312.

Simon Fredrickson posted the best round for BHS, shooting a 2-over-par 73 to tie for second with Buffalo’s Harvey Yliltalo. Nick Yavarow finished fifth overall with a 75, one stroke behind Buffalo’s Sam Mahannah.

Other competitors for the Lumberjacks included Carter Fish (81) and Ryan Daman (83) to round out the team score, while Eli Tuomala (85) and Nick Carlson (96) rounded out the team’s rounds.

The Bison’s Arthur Ylitalo had the best score of any competitor, carding a 5-under-par 66 to finish first in the field.

Bemidji is scheduled to return to the links for the Bemidji Invitational at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, May 9, at the Bemidji Town and Country Club.
