BOYS GOLF: Bemidji caps back-to-back invites with 3rd-place showing

Bemidji will have one day off before returning to action at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 12, for an invite hosted by St. Cloud Tech.

PARK RAPIDS — One day removed from a home invite, the Bemidji High School boys golf team returned to the links on Tuesday for an invite in Park Rapids. Ryan Daman paced BHS by ranking fifth individually as the Lumberjacks slotted third out of 10 teams.

Daman posted a 5-over-par 77, which included birdies on Nos. 15 and 18. Close behind for Bemidji, Nick Yavarow carded a 79 to tie for seventh individually.

Simon Fredrickson and Carter Fish rounded out the team’s score with rounds of 81 and 83, respectively, to tie for 13th and 17th.

Eli Tuomala and Nick Carlson rounded out the BHS performances, both posting an 88 to tie for 28th but not factoring into the team score.

Lance Hamak (Sartell-St. Stephen), Joey Simonich (Moorhead) and Joe Kortan (Moorhead) all shared medalist honors by tying for first with scores of 74.

The Spuds also won the team title with a score of 306. The Sabres were close behind at 308, while the Jacks rounded out the top three with a score of 320.
