Wayne State bounced back to defeat Bemidji State 4-2 Saturday to earn a split in their college women's hockey weekend series at Detroit.
The Warriors scored three power-play goals, including one just three minutes into the game. Wayne added another power-play goal later in the first to go ahead 2-0.
The Beavers, who won Friday's opener 3-0, got on the board early in the second on a goal by senior Erin Johnson, who converted a nice fee from sophomore Emily Erickson.
But another power-play goal by the Warriors just six minutes later made it 3-1. It was 4-1 halfway through the second period when the Beavers turned the puck over in front of their own net.
Erickson netted her second goal of the weekend to cut the Warrior lead to two late in the second period. Erickson found herself on a two-on-one with Erin Cody to her left. Giving a look to Cody like she was going to pass, Erickson fired the puck and beat the WSU goalie under her blocker side.

Bemidji State outshot Wayne State 12-2 in the third period and 33-13 in the game, but could get no closer on the scoreboard.
On the weekend Erickson had two goals and two assists. She currently leads the team with four points.
The Beavers will hit the road next weekend as they travel to Wisconsin to start Western Collegiate Hockey Association play.
