BEMIDJI -- The first-ever Blue Line Walleye Tournament is scheduled for this Saturday, Sept. 28, at the Ruttger’s Birchmont Lodge on the north end of Lake Bemidji.

Anglers can compete for a chance to win $10,000 while supporting local law enforcement. Proceeds and donations from the tournament will be donated to the Fraternal Order of Police for the Bemidji area.

Registration is open until noon on Friday, Sept. 27. Entry fee per team is $400. A team must have two people and must fish from the same boat.

The rules and registration meeting is at 5 p.m. Friday at Ruttger’s in the main dining hall. One member of each team must attend the rules meeting and be in attendance by the start of the meeting or they may have their entry filled by an alternate team. Both members are encouraged to come.

Winners will be determined by the total weight of up to five walleyes, all being over 14 inches but a maximum of two surpassing 20 inches. The team with the heaviest final weight will be deemed the winners. Places first through 10th will receive a check.

Check-in will begin at 6 a.m. Saturday with take-off set for 7 a.m. and the weigh-in for 3 p.m. An awards ceremony will follow, weather permitting. Food and beverages will be available. A check will be issued to the Fraternal Order of Police following the announcement of the champions.
