The colder weather this past week really lowered the water temperatures on area lakes and the fishing remains strong.
Walleye fishing has been good using jigs and minnows off the first breaks in 12-14 feet. The water is very clear now so long line jigging or spot locking and casting away from the boat is key.

Northern pike are very active in the same areas as the walleyes. Smallmouth bass fishing has been good up in the mid-lake and shoreline rocks using tube jigs or swim baits. Largemouth bass are still hanging on the remaining green weed edges. Tubes and plastic worms along with drop shots are producing fish.

You’ll still find a few crappies and bluegills off the edges of deeper green weeds and also out suspended in the deep basins.
Grouse hunting is also getting better as the leaves continue to fall. It’s a great time to be outdoors. Dress warm and if you're out on the water make sure you wear your life jacket. With the cold water, hypothermia can set in quickly and a life jacket just might save your life.

Please remember to practice selective harvesting, by doing so we will continue to have great fishing for years to come.
