The Ethan Meyers rink of Duluth recovered from Monday's loss to Adam Kitchens of North Dakota and stopped Ryan Flippo of Alaska 6-4 in Tuesday's fifth round of the National Junior Curling tournament in Madison, Wis.
In Tuesday's late round the rink, which includes Bemidji curlers Mark Fenner and Alex Fenson, lost toBlake Morton of Wisconsin 10-4.
Tuesday's results gave Meyers a 3-3 record heading into Wednesday's two rounds.
In Wednesday's noon draw Meyers will face unbeaten Stephen Dropkin of Massachusetts and the afternoon session sees Meyers meeting Tony Wright of Duluth.
In Tuesday's early draw Meyers took a 3-0 lead after four ends and extended the cushion to 6-1 with three in the sixth end. Flippo, however, closed the gap with two in the seventh and a steal of one in the eighth.

Meyers was able to blank the ninth end and Flippo ran out of rocks in the 10th end.
In Tuesday's late match against Morton, the Minnesotans gave up two in the first end and four in the fourth to fall behind 6-1. Meyers never recovered.
