BEMIDJI -- The Fourth of July weekend came to an end Sunday night at Bemidji Speedway with clear skies and a few fireworks on the track.

Big winners on the night were clean sweeps by Dean Eggebraaten in the Wissota Midwest Modifieds, Matt Sparby in the Wissota Super Stocks and Shannon George in the Bemidji Mini Stocks.

The track will next host the prestigious “Advantage RV Modified Tour” on Sunday, July 14. The Wissota Super Stocks and Hornets will take the night off while all other classes will run as usual.

The track has also announced it will now accept credit cards for admission.

Wissota Pure Stocks

Donahue Wittner led the 16-car field, while Josh Berg, Michael Roth, Travis Olafson and Kevin Baumgarner followed behind.

Baumgarner raced inside in turn four and into third place. Roth tried inside and drove alongside Berg for second, but Berg held off the challenge. Wittner stayed out front for the win, but he was disqualified following a tech infraction.

Beg slid into the top spot instead, while Roth, Baumgarner, Austin Carlson and Jamie Chlebecek took home top five honors.

Wissota Mod Fours

Mike Hart took the pole with Dean Shaver to his right. Several cars rerouted for the pits following heavy contact down the front straight, and a restart was necessary.

Shaver powered to the lead, but Garrett Masurka raced to the outside to grab the top spot. After a caution, Blake Erickson passed high and into second.

A good duel developed between Masurka and Erickson, and Masurka won the battle for his first-ever feature win. Erickson, Prieve, Schwinn and Shaver followed.

Wissota Midwest Modifieds

Alex Johnson had the pole ahead of 13 others, but Dean Eggebraaten powered around him at the green flag.

Jeff Nelson maneuvered by several cars to take over third. The caution flag waved just as Eggebraaten was preparing to lap cars, but Eggebraaten controlled the restart nonetheless.

Nobody was catching Eggebraaten’s fast car, and he blew away the field for his third win of the summer. Nelson, Skyler Smith, Jeff Reed and Ryan Schow followed across the finish line.

Wissota Super Stocks

Harley Kroening held the pole, but, following a door-to-door battle, it was Matt Sparby on the outside who took the lead at the green flag.

Following the only caution of the race, Tim Carlson passed Kroening for second while Dalton Carlson moved up and into the top five.

The field spread out and Sparby cruised to the victory. Tim Carlson, Kroening, Dalton Carlson and Brandon Bahr claimed top-five honors.

Wissota Modifieds

Mike MacAdams and John Farrington were up front at the start, but after one lap, second-row starter Tim Jackson had the lead.

Josh Beaulieu passed Farrington for second while Doyle Erickson raced inside down the back straight and took over third.

Beaulieu raced up to within a car length of Jackson, but he couldn’t get any closer. Jackson picked up his second feature win in as many weeks with Beaulieu, Erickson and MacAdams following.

Wissota Hornets

Brennan Schmidt has had an impressive summer, two wins already to his credit, but standing in the 14-year-old’s way for win No. 3 was Ross Magnuson on the pole and Travis Olafson outside row one.

Nevertheless, Schmidt wasted little time taking the lead from his second-row start, racing to the inside down the back straight. Jared Miller powered up on the back straight into third, and then into second following a caution. Miller chased the speedy Schmidt, but he couldn’t catch up.

Schmidt took the checkered flag while Miller, Andrew Hansen, Peyton Edelman and Magnuson followed.

Bemidji Mini Stocks

Nicholas Jacobson led the pack to the green flag while third-row starter Shannon George was on the gas and passing cars to take over second.

Conrad Schwinn followed his lead, pulling into third before the caution flag waved. On the restart, George raced inside and took the lead from Jacobson. Schwinn followed into second, dropping Jacobson to third.

George stayed out front and picked up the win on his birthday. Schwinn, Jacobson, John Current and Billy Foster filled the top five spots.
