BLOOMINGTON -- Zach Driscoll was named Western Collegiate Hockey Association Goaltender of the Week on Monday for his role in the Bemidji State men’s hockey team’s five-point series against Northern Michigan over the weekend. The weekly award is the second for Driscoll this season.

The sophomore backstopped BSU to a five-point weekend, helping the Beavers to move into a tie for fourth place in the WCHA standings. Driscoll totaled 16 saves in 65 minutes Friday in a 2-2 tie as he helped allow BSU earn the extra point in 3-on-3 overtime. He posted his third shutout of the season Saturday, making 21 saves in a 3-0 win.
The Apple Valley native aided the penalty-kill unit’s perfect 5-for-5 weekend. The unit has not allowed a power-play goal in 12 games and 39 opportunities.

Driscoll finished the weekend with 37 saves on 39 shots for a .949 save percentage and posted a 0.96 goals against average, allowing two shorthanded goals in 125 minutes over two starts.
Driscoll was also named Goaltender of the Week Nov. 26.
Along with Driscoll, Lake Superior State’s Max Humitz and Steven Ruggiero were named WCHA Forward and Defenseman of the Week, respectively, while Ferris State freshman Roni Salmenkangas was selected Rookie of the Week.
Bemidji State (15-12-5, 13-8-3-2 WCHA) will host Bowling Green this weekend for its final home series of the regular season. Both games are set for 7:07 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
