KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The Bemidji State men’s golf team held onto its grip of second place during day two of the NSIC Championship at Shoal Creek Golf Club in Kansas City, Mo.
The Beavers carded a 302 as a team on Friday, falling nine strokes behind Winona State’s 593 after 36 holes in the 54-hole tournament. The Warriors fired a 300 on Friday to extend its lead by two strokes.
Chris Swenson jumped up eight spots and currently sits second overall with a two-day total of 146, one stroke behind Winona State’s Ben Jasper. Swenson carded a one-under 70 in round two, which currently stands as the best round of the tournament, to climb three strokes closer to the lead.
Tanner Sperling is tied for 11th at 152 after shooting an 80 on Friday. Ian Mackenzie-Olson and Brandon Nelson are both in a tie for 15th after matching rounds of 78 for a two-day score of 154, and Brennan Hockman fired a 76 for a two-day total of 158, good for a share of 25th.
The tournament wraps up with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 20. The team champion will earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Central/Midwest Regional on May 9-11, while the top five individuals will be named NSIC All-Tournament.
