LAKE CITY, Minn. -- Bemidji State men’s golfer Ian Mackenzie-Olson fired a one-over par 145 (75-70) at the JR Watkins Invitational in Lake City to help the BSU men’s golf team to a fifth-place finish Tuesday. The Beavers totaled a team score of 599 (302-297) and finished just five strokes back of the top two teams.
Washburn took home the team title with a score of 592 (298-294) while Minot State came in second with 594 (298-296). Third, fourth and fifth place was separated by just two strokes with Arkansas-Fort Smith placing third (296-301=597) and Minnesota State placing fourth (299-299=598).
Junior Brennan Hockman followed Mackenzie-Olson and tied for seventh individually after carding 147 (73-74, +3) while Matthew Gregg (79-74=153), Chris Swenson (75-83=158) and Tanner Sperling (82-79=161) rounded out the Beaver’s top five scorers.
BSU continues the fall season by traveling to Lemont, Ill., Oct. 1-2 to compete in the Cog Hill Invitational hosted by Lewis University.
