The Garfield Lake Ice Races were back on the ice track in Laporte for week two of the season on Sunday, with 27 ice racers ready to race in the A and B class.

The heat races went smoothly and the track conditions were good. But as the day wore on, track conditions became worse as the “snow dust” made visibility near impossible to race.

Track officials made the call to suspend the races and resume with the features next Sunday, Jan. 30. The heat races in both the A and B classes will count when racing resumes at noon.
