MEN'S HOCKEY: Whitecloud not on Vegas playoff roster

LAS VEGAS -- Former Bemidji State defenseman Zach Whitecloud is not on the playoff roster for the Vegas Golden Knights, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

Whitecloud is ineligible for the playoffs since a player must be on a team's reserve list by the Feb. 26 trade deadline to play in the postseason. He signed with Vegas March 8 after posting 19 points (4g-15a) during his sophomore season for the Beavers.

The 21-year-old made his NHL debut April 5 at the Edmonton Oilers, finishing with a plus-3 rating and a blocked shot in 16:42 of ice time.

The Golden Knights will open the Stanley Cup Playoffs tonight with a first-round series against the Los Angeles Kings.
