PREP GYMNASTICS: Bemidji breaks school record in historic win
MOORHEAD -- The Bemidji High School gymnastics team made history on Saturday.
The Lumberjacks etched their names into the record books at the Moorhead Invite, totaling a score of 142.8 and setting a new program record en route to a first-place finish.
Bemidji’s mark breaks the previous school best of 142.35, set last season. On Saturday, it was also enough to beat out Rogers (141) and Moorhead (135.35).
Tatum Offerdahl finished second individually in the all-around with a 35.85 score for BHS. She took first in the floor routine with at 9.25, and she came in second in both the bars (9.2) and the vault (9).
Kaleigh Buck (9.35) and Leah Lucas (9.15) aided the BHS cause on the beam, finishing first and second, respectively. Buck was also third in the floor routine (9.15) and tied for fourth on the bars (8.75), while Lucas was fifth on the floor (9.050).
Other top-five finishes for the Lumberjacks included Lauren Lundquist at fourth on the floor (9.1) and fifth on the beam (8.85), Elizabeth Corradi at fourth on the vault (8.95) and Sophie Morin tied for fifth on the vault (8.75).
Bemidji will return to action at 5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18, when it hosts Long Prairie-Grey Eagle at the Gym Bin.
