BEMIDJI -- Tatum Offerdahl, Mady Schmidt and Leah Lucas took the top three spots in the all-around to lead the Bemidji High School gymnastics team to a 134.9-101.1 victory over Park Rapids in the season opener Friday night at the Gym Bin in Bemidji.
“We’re thrilled. The girls worked really hard today,” Bemidji head coach Briana Fleischhacker said. “For being the first meet, they came out really confident, and they had the right attitude. Any time they made a mistake or had a fall or something goofy happened, they kept their chins up and moved on to the next skill, moved on to the next event, and it really showed.”
Offerdahl took the top spot with a 34.95, taking first place on the bars (8.9), second on the beam (8.85) and the floor (8.7) and fourth on the vault (8.5).
“Tatum Offerdahl had a really strong night tonight,” said Fleischhacker. “She had a couple goof-ups, little mistakes here and there, but for the most part she really went hard and had some really clean, nice routines and scored well.”
Schmidt followed with a first-place finish on the vault (8.65) and third on the bars (7.7) and the floor (8.45), helping her to a 32.05 all-around score.

Lauren Lundquist finished the day with two first-place finishes – recording a 9.1 on the beam and 8.75 on the floor – and added a 7.9 on the bars to take second.
“We had a beautiful beam routine out of Lauren Lundquist today,” Fleischhacker said. “She earned every tenth that she got on that routine, so that was beautiful.”
Lundquist competed in the junior varsity vault event, but her three varsity events totaled 25.75 points, which would have placed third in the all-around had she scored in all four events.
Other top-three finishes for the Jacks include vaulters Liz Corradi (second, 8.6) and Sophie Morin (third, 8.55) and Corradi on the beam (8.35).
The Lumberjacks took the top four spots in each event. They’ll look to keep the early-season momentum going next Tuesday, Dec. 12, at their 6 p.m. meet in Brainerd.
