BEMIDJI -- The 55th annual Vandersluis Memorial Golf Tournament had the Bemidji Town and Country Club abuzz from Saturday through Monday, with a number of champions being crowned over the holiday weekend.
In the men’s division, Brennan Hockman captured the title with a 5-under-par showing of 211. His three-round effort included a 4-under 68 on day two, and he also shot under par with a 71 on day one. Matt Norby (215), Danny Menton (218) and Josh Bergrud (219) rounded out the top three of the field.
In women’s play, Mikki Kromy successfully defended her 2021 championship with another match-play title this year. She upended Kerin Hanson 6-and-5 in the first round, then topped Alyssa Konecne 3-and-2 in the semifinals. In the championship, Kromy defeated Tina Offerdahl 1-up.
In the senior men’s championship, Curt Howard conquered the field with a 5-over showing of 221. He fired a 71 in his second round, helping him edge runner-up Scott Hinners by three strokes. Jeff Wiltse, Aaron Burnside and Rick Passolt all tied for third with matching scores of 226.
And in the masters field, Ross Kvittem topped the competition by firing an 18-over par 234, beating the field by four strokes. Tom Smith was second at 22-over, while John Hagge was third at 23-over.
