GIRLS SWIMMING: Jacks win triangular

BEMIDJI -- The Bemidji High School girls swimming and diving team claimed first place in a home triangular Tuesday night. The Lumberjacks notched 281 points to outpace Thief River Falls and Perham/New York Mills, who each recorded 123 points.

BEMIDJI -- The Bemidji High School girls swimming and diving team claimed first place in a home triangular Tuesday night. The Lumberjacks notched 281 points to outpace Thief River Falls and Perham/New York Mills, who each recorded 123 points.

Bemidji earned wins in nine of 12 events, including sweeping all three relays. The Jacks swam to victory in the 200-yard medley relay (2:05.4), 200 free relay (1:51.28) and 400 free relay (4:06.6).

In the individual events, Laura Davis and Abby Yartz each won a pair of races. Davis was triumphant in the 200 free (2:09.97) and 500 free (5:55.07), while Yartz was victorious in the 200 IM (2:26.59) and 100 backstroke (1:07.04).

Kayleigh Hickman also picked up a win in the 100 butterfly (1:12.91), and Paige Andersen posted the fastest time in the 100 breastroke (1:20.0).

The Lumberjacks will next swim at the West Fargo Invitational at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 15.
