Boston Bruins General Manager Peter Chiarelli announced Wednesday that the club has recalled former Bemidji State goaltender Matt Dalton from the Reading Royals (East Coast Hockey League) on an emergency basis, as Bruins goaltender Tim Thomas will remain in Vancouver with Team USA at the Winter Olympics. Dalton joined the Bruins for practice on Thursday at Ristuccia Arena in Wilmington.

The 23-year-old Dalton has appeared in 36 games this season for Reading with a 16-18-2 record, .905 save percentage and a 3.54 goals against average. Dalton has also appeared four games for the Providence Bruins this year (American Hockey League) and has 0-4-0 record, a save percentage of .889 and a goals against average of 3.98.

The 6'1", 194-pound Clinton, Ontario, native was signed by the Bruins as a free agent on April 22, 2009 after playing two seasons at Bemidji State University where his career 2.29 goals against average is the best in school history.

The Bruins, minus the six Olympians on the roster, will start shaking off the rust from the break tomorrow morning as they prepare for a busy stretch run that starts Tuesday against Montreal.
