Blackduck equestrian Madelyn Cease competed successfully at her first collegiate three-day eventing competition in Kentucky as a freshman at Transylvania University the first weekend of September. Maddie and her horse, Charlie, came in sixth place in the novice division, securing a spot on her college varsity team. Tracy Klefsas has been Madelyn’s coach for the past five years and is the owner of Aurora Sky Training in Laporte. Three-day eventing is comprised of cross country jumping, stadium jumping and dressage. All three events are done with the same horse and rider team over the course of a weekend. Three-day eventing, stadium jumping and dressage are the only three equine sports where you may compete at the Olympic level. (Submitted photo)
