CURLING: US improves to 6-2 at worlds

LETHBRIDGE, Alberta -- The U.S. picked up two more wins Wednesday at the 2019 World Men's Curling Championship in Lethbridge, Alberta. The Americans topped Italy 8-3 in the morning before earning a 7-5 comeback win over China in the afternoon.

LETHBRIDGE, Alberta -- The U.S. picked up two more wins Wednesday at the 2019 World Men’s Curling Championship in Lethbridge, Alberta. The Americans topped Italy 8-3 in the morning before earning a 7-5 comeback win over China in the afternoon.

John Shuster (Superior, Wis.) and teammates Chris Plys (Duluth), Matt Hamilton (McFarland, Wis.) and John Landsteiner (Duluth) improved to 6-2 with the wins as they move closer to a berth in Saturday’s playoffs.

The U.S. men have four games left in the 12-game round robin with three of them against likely playoff-bound teams, including Canada (6-1), Japan (7-1) and Sweden (7-1). They will close out the round robin against Norway (2-6) on Friday night. They’ll face host Canada at 10 a.m. Thursday before meeting Japan at 8 p.m.
