BURNSVILLE – It turns out a hat trick is worthy of recognition.
Thus, Bemidji State women’s soccer fifth-year forward Sara Wendt was named the NSIC Offensive Player of the Week on Monday after posting a dazzling three-goal showcase against Sioux Falls on Sunday.
Wendt’s hat trick featured three uninterrupted goals and was the program’s first since Rachel Norton accomplished the feat in 2015.
Wendt’s scoring surge powered the Beavers to a 4-1 win in Sioux Falls, S.D., rounding out a perfect 2-0-0 weekend that also featured a road victory over Southwest Minnesota State. She leads BSU with seven goals this season.
Also honored by the conference were Minot State’s Rebecca Storr as Defensive Player of the Week and Minnesota Duluth’s Jennifer Norris as Goalkeeper of the Week.
