LAKE CITY – Bemidji State men’s golf freshman Rylin Petry put two excellent rounds together on Monday and Tuesday, and he was rewarded.
At the Watkins Invitational held in Lake City, Petry finished tied for first place with an even-par 144 (73-71), helping the Beavers to a second-place finish overall.
Petry sat in sixth place after Monday’s round, but his 1-under-par round on Tuesday brought him to the top of the leaderboard.
He advanced to a playoff against Minnesota State’s Max Brud and Missouri S&T’s Gustav Liljedahl, which Brud won in three holes with a chip-in for eagle on No. 9. Petry birdied the hole and earned second place.
