MEN’S GOLF: Beavers, Ben Corbid challenge 18-team field at NSU Classic

Bemidji State men’s golfer Ben Corbid paced the Beavers at the Northeastern Oklahoma State Classic on Monday and Tuesday, tying for 17th among 98 golfers down in Muskogee, Okla.

MUSKOGEE, Okla. -- Bemidji State men’s golfer Ben Corbid paced the Beavers at the Northeastern Oklahoma State Classic on Monday and Tuesday, tying for 17th among 98 golfers down in Muskogee, Okla.

Corbid fired a three-round score of 215 (71-71-73) and finished two over par, leading BSU to a team score of 878 (287-290-301) that put the team 12th in the field of 18.

Right behind Corbid, Rylin Petry carded a 3-over 216 (71-69-76) to finish in a tie for 22nd. Logan Schoepp tied for 61st with his 225 (70-78-77), while Caden Lick (76-72-80=228) and Tate Usher (75-80-75=230) rounded out the team’s score by tying for 68th and 76th, respectively.

Henderson State blew away the field by firing a 15-under 837, which was 19 strokes better than second-place Washburn.

Bemidji State was one of two NSIC schools competing in the tournament. The other, Winona State, came in 15th place with a score of 896.

Tradgon McCrae of Missouri Southern State won medalist honors with his 13-under score of 200 (64-66-70).

The Beavers will wrap up the fall season in Topeka, Kan., where they’ll compete in the Washburn Invite on Oct. 3-4.
