BEMIDJI – A new Bemidji State football coach is trading in the Chippewas for the Beavers.

Charles Ross has joined the BSU staff as the cornerbacks coach, head coach Brent Bolte announced on Monday. Ross had served on the Central Michigan coaching staff since 2020.

While with CMU, Ross was a graduate assistant focused on defensive backs. He helped the Chippewas finish third among Mid-American Conference teams in both scoring defense and total defense in 2021 as they compiled a record of 9-4, including a 24-21 win over Washington State in the Sun Bowl.

Ross served as an intern with the Central Michigan strength and conditioning program and an assistant defensive backs coach with Three Rivers High School (Mich.) prior to joining CMU as a grad assistant.

Bemidji State commences its 2022 football season with a home contest against Minnesota State at 6 p.m. on Sept. 1 at Chet Anderson Stadium.
