COLLEGE BASKETBALL: Bemidji State men, women unveil 2022-23 schedules

The Bemidji State men’s and women’s basketball teams have finally unveiled their 2022-23 schedules.

BEMIDJI -- The Bemidji State men’s and women’s basketball teams have finally unveiled their 2022-23 schedules.

The women will kick off basketball season in Bemidji with an early scrimmage against North Iowa Area Community College on Oct. 22. Both BSU programs then begin nonconference play on Nov. 11, the women at home against Valley City State and the men in Duluth against Nebraska-Kearney.

The men continue their nonconference schedule against Northern Arkansas (Nov. 12 in Duluth) and Concordia-St. Paul (Nov. 15 in St. Paul). They then return home for the BSU Classic and will host Oak Hills Christian College (Nov. 17) and Minnesota Morris (Nov. 18). The Beavers will also host Northland College in a Jan. 2 nonconference game.

The Bemidji State women will host Mayville State on Nov. 14 and then travel to Bellingham, Wash., to play St. Martin’s (Nov. 25) and Western Washington (Nov. 26) in a Thanksgiving tournament.

The schedules line up from there, as each team then travels to St. Cloud State on Dec. 1 before hosting Minnesota Duluth on Dec. 3. The first true road weekend of the NSIC slate comes Dec. 9-10 at Minnesota State Moorhead and Northern State. Bemidji State then hosts U-Mary and Minot State on Dec. 16-17. A road contest against Minnesota Crookston on Dec. 31 closes out the calendar year.

The Beavers return to the road at Upper Iowa and Winona State on Jan. 6-7 before coming home to face Concordia-St. Paul and Minnesota State on Jan. 13-14. They’re back on the road the following weekend, traveling to Wayne State and Augustana on Jan. 20-21. Southwest Minnesota State and Sioux Falls then come to Bemidji for a pair of games on Jan. 27-28.

The Beavers make their swing into North Dakota on Feb. 3-4 at Minot State and U-Mary before hosting Northern State and MSUM on Feb. 10-11. The regular season then concludes with a Feb. 16 home game against SCSU and a Feb. 18 road game at Minnesota Duluth.

The NSIC Tournament begins on Feb. 22 at campus sites, with the top 12 teams making the tournament and the top two seeds in each division receiving a first-round bye. The quarterfinals, semifinals and championships will run from Feb. 25-28 at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, S.D.

The BSU women finished last season with a 14-13 record and an NSIC Tournament quarterfinal appearance. The Bemidji State men went 8-17 and missed the playoffs.
