BEMIDJI - Following two goals and two assists this past weekend, junior Brendan Harms netted a league-wide player of the week honor.
Harms a junior from Steinbach, Manitoba, was named the Western Collegiate Hockey Association’s offensive player of the week as he helped the Beavers (2-5-2 overall, 1-4-1 in WCHA play) earn the split.
The forward had a hand in all three of BSU’s goals in Friday’s game, a 4-3 loss to the Nanooks. He scored a first-period goal - his first of the season - and had a helper in the Beavers’ other two.
On Saturday, Harms scored just once, in the first period, but it helped the Beavers earn the 6-3 victory over Alaska.
Harms, all All-WCHA Third-team selection last season, is currently second on the team in scoring with eight points. His six assists are tied for the team lead.
He is the first BSU player this season to earn offensive player of the week honors. Sophomore goaltender Michael Bitzer and senior defenseman Graeme McCormack were each named defensive player of the week earlier in this season.
Harms and the Beavers host Lake Superior State this weekend.
