BSU men fall in finale to a hot Wayne State team

The Bemidji State University men's basketball team ran into a hot Wayne State team in the final game of the 2009-10 season, as the Wildcats downed the Beavers 91-48 Saturday in Nebraska.

The Bemidji State University men's basketball team ran into a hot Wayne State team in the final game of the 2009-10 season, as the Wildcats downed the Beavers 91-48 Saturday in Nebraska.

Wayne shot 63.5 percent from the field and 52.4 percent from 3-point land. BSU couldn't find its shooting rhythm, going 16 of 45 (a season-low 35.6 percent) from the field and 4 of 14 from beyond the arc.

The game was the last in a Beaver uniform for lone senior Seth Haake. The guard from Eden Prairie finished with nine points in the game and 1,202 career points, which stands 10th on BSU's career scoring chart. He had 190 career assists to sit 10th on BSU's top career assists list.  

The loss ended a season-high five-game winning streak for BSU. The Beavers finished with a 12-15 overall and 8-12 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference record. The win totals are the best under head coach Matt Bowen and since 2005-06. The loss put BSU in 11th place in the final NSIC standings, but just a game out of a tie for eighth.

Freshman Lance Rongstad finished with a team-high 10 points, adding a career-high five steals, with four rebounds and three assists. Freshman Burke Lendl posted a team-high five rebounds and added eight points.

 Sophomore Bryce Tesdahl finished the season with 137 assists, placing him fourth on BSU's top season assists chart. His 222 career assists stands sixth on BSU's top career assists list (1976-present).
