Boys Basketball Update

The Blackduck Drake boys basketball team are having a good season so far with a win over Laporte Dec. 8, 73-46. They stumbled Dec. 11 in Cass Lake, however, losing that game, 82-47.

The Blackduck Drake boys basketball team are having a good season so far with a win over Laporte Dec. 8, 73-46. They stumbled Dec. 11 in Cass Lake, however, losing that game, 82-47.

"We were slappy in the first half against Laporte," said Blackduck head coach Grant Mistic. "But we came out at the start of the second half and took control of the game." he said.

Scoring points for the Drakes were Josh RedDay with 27 points followed by Trey Volk with 12. Alex Lossing added 7 points while Brandon Beck and Todd Kallroos, each added 6 points and Nick Liapis added 5 of his own.

Also scoring for Blackduck were Logan Oelke with 4, Jake Olafson with 4 and Charles Biberg and Michael Dexter each scored a point.

Coach Mistic noted that the team "shot pretty well and rebounded OK."

Kallroos and Liapis each had six rebounds, RedDay had five, Oelke had three, Lossing, Biberg and Lucas Krabbenhoft each had two with Beck, Volk, Olafson and Peter Fraley each having one rebound.

The Drakes took their first loss of the season in Cass Lake, bringing their record to 2-1.

"We turned the ball over too many times and didn't play good defense," said Mistic. "Josh RedDay got hurt in the beginning of the game and didn't play much," he said. "With him out, it took us out of rhythm."

Leading scorer for the Drakes was Kallroos with 12 points with Liapis right behind him with 10 points. Also scoring were RedDay with 7 before he was injured, Beck with 7 points and Lossing with 5. Rounding out the scoring for Blackduck with 2 points each were Biberg, Volk and Dexter.

Kallroos also led in rebounds with five, RedDay had four, Beck had three, Biberg and Volk each had two and Lossing and Liapis each had one.
